Vocational Services
The Adult Training Centers at 21 Plus provide community-integrated opportunities to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The creative and coordinated efforts of the Adult Training Centers’ staff encourages program participants to embrace new opportunities and take part in exciting activities. Adults participating in the program are provided with group and individual instruction in communication, socialization, community awareness and work skills to ensure their success.
The individuals who attend our Adult Training Centers enjoy social activities such as shopping and bowling, as well as discover new hobbies, including photography, ceramics and baking. Participants also realize the importance of volunteerism in the local community. This enables them to hone job training skills and increase self-esteem. Over the years our adults have given their time and efforts to local organizations, including Meals on Wheels, United Way, Ronald McDonald House, Adopt-a Shelf, local nursing homes and Ocean County Hunger Relief.
Learning the necessary skills for employment at our Adult Training Centers results in real wage-earning job placement in the community. The individuals in our programs work in crews with staff guidance at local businesses. They provide small office cleaning services for which they receive minimum wage. Each program averages over 300 jobs in the community per year. Our Adult Training Centers are accredited by CARF. If you are not DDD eligible at this time, there is availability for full-time or part-time attendance on a private pay basis.
Some of our individuals have put their work skills to good use with our Office Cleaning Services. Click here for more information 21 Plus Cleaning Services.
